Meet Sophia, the heart behind Jubi Tea & Sweets.

 

The idea for Jubi Tea & Sweets began in 2018, when Sophia noticed a lack of kid-friendly cafés in her old Bushwick neighborhood. Inspired by her then six-year-old daughter, Sienna, she dreamed of creating a welcoming space for families to gather.

That spark of inspiration led Sophia on a six-year journey—through a pandemic and a move to Bethel, CT, in 2020. Along the way, she explored everything from a café with a play area to a paint-and-sip space. But it wasn’t until a stroll through downtown Bethel in early 2023 that her true idea clicked: a bubble tea shop.

​

A longtime bubble tea lover, Sophia realized she could bring something new and family-friendly to the neighborhood—and share her love for boba with the community.

​

With hustle and heart, she launched Jubi Tea & Sweets, opening its doors in December 2024.  The shop offers a wide variety of bubble tea flavors—from classic milk and fruit teas to refreshing slushes and handcrafted specialty drinks—alongside made-to-order bubble waffles and a rotating lineup of fun macaron flavors.  Every drink is made with intention—tea’s brewed fresh each day, and tapioca pearls (aka boba) is cooked daily for that perfect soft-and-chewy texture you love.

More than just a grab-and-go spot, Sophia designed Jubi to be a space where friends and families can gather and connect—or where you can catch up on work with a sweet treat in hand.

 

And the name? “Jubi” comes from jubilant—a nod to the joy and good vibes Sophia hopes every customer feels with each visit.
